§ 14-277. Inspections.

  • (a)

    A 24-hour notice to the city department of regulatory codes, permits and inspections shall be required prior to an inspection.

    (b)

    Residential inspections shall be as follows:

    (1)

    The building inspector shall make three inspections: foundation, open wall and final.

    (2)

    The plumbing inspector shall make three inspections: rough-in, open wall and final.

    (3)

    The electrical inspector shall make two inspections: open wall and final.

    (4)

    The mechanical inspector shall make two inspections: open wall and final.

    (c)

    Commercial inspections shall be as follows:

    (1)

    The building inspector shall make three inspections: foundation, open wall and final.

    (2)

    The plumbing inspector shall make three inspections: rough-in, open wall and final.

    (3)

    The electrical inspector shall make two inspections: open wall and final.

    (4)

    The mechanical inspector shall make two inspections: open wall and final.

    (d)

    Additional inspections shall be as follows:

    (1)

    The fee for additional inspections because of rejections shall be $25.00 per inspection, which shall be paid for by the contractor involved.

    (2)

    Any contractor or owner requesting a service inspection shall be charged a fee of $25.00 per service inspection. Each conforming service inspection shall entitle the contractor or owner to no more than seven days of temporary electrical service, after which time it shall be the duty of the contractor or owner to notify the electricity provider to disconnect the service.

    (3)

    Out of town inspections (movable homes) shall be $100.00.

    (e)

    The city will conduct mercury tests for gas leaks at a charge of $40.00 to the owner. A licensed plumber may make such tests and sign a form at the department of regulatory codes, permits and inspections along with his license number and a statement that the test has been passed. There will be no charge for such test. Houses and/or mobile homes that are moved or relocated in any manner will require a mercury test as provided. Buildings vacant for more than six months shall be mercury tested.
