§ 78-4. Theft of utilities.

  • (a)

    The presence and/or use at any time of any equipment or device or the manipulation of any equipment on the premises of any customer on or about the utility connection or equipment of the system or owner utilized in delivering the utility service, which is connected with or which if connected would result in the prevention of the proper action or accurate registration of the meter used to measure the amount of utility service rendered or utilized by the customer, or which would interfere with the proper action or accurate registration of the utility service rendered or utilized by the customer, shall require the system to disconnect such utility service, and the customer shall be required to pay a service charge of $80.00 plus a penalty of $150.00 to reconnect or re-establish such service. Prior to reconnection and re-establishment of any discontinued service, the customer shall be required to correct, to the satisfaction of the system, the condition which necessitated the discontinuance of the service.

    (b)

    If it is discovered that the devices, equipment or the manipulations results in damage to the water meter as determined by the water superintendent, the following fees will be assessed to replace the water meter:

    (1)

    For replacement of a damaged ¾" water meter ..... $600.00

    (2)

    For replacement of a damaged 1" water meter ..... 800.00

    (3)

    For replacement of a damaged 2" water meter ..... 3,250.00

    (4)

    Digital reader ..... 180.00
