§ 2. Liability for damages.

The company shall be liable for all damages or injuries to persons or property which may be caused by its negligence, and the company shall repair, at its expense, any damage that may be done by it to the streets, alleys, avenues, sidewalks, bridges, public grounds and public places of the municipality as to restore same to their former state or condition insofar as it may be reasonably possible to do so.
