§ 10. Drug and alcohol testing.

  • In furtherance of the municipality's substance abuse policy as set out in detail in Ordinance No. 2000-012, a drug testing policy/procedure is implemented. The municipality will require drug screening of all beginning employees. Similar drug screens will be required of any employee involved in a workplace accident, and the municipality reserves the right to require screening of any employee at any time based upon reasonable cause to believe that a violation of the substance abuse policy has occurred. Refusal to submit to a requested drug test will be considered a violation of the policy and grounds for disciplinary action including termination. Other random drug/alcohol testing may occur as part of the random testing program implemented in the ordinance. (See addendum 4.)
